Can I call a phone from my browser for free?
Short answer
Not to phone numbers. Signing up for TwinPhone is free and needs no card, but there is no free calling credit: calls to landlines and mobiles are paid per minute, $0.02 a minute to the US and Canada, with every other country's rate shown before you dial. Free calls work only app-to-app, when both people use the same app.
Why aren't calls to phone numbers free?
A call from the browser leaves the internet and enters the ordinary phone network, and the phone company at the other end charges for every connected minute. App-to-app calls, such as WhatsApp to WhatsApp, never touch that network — which is why they can cost nothing, and why they reach only people who have the same app installed.
What does a call actually cost?
Calls are billed by the minute, rounded up, with a one-minute minimum; there is no connection fee and no subscription. The smallest top-up is $10, about 500 minutes to the US or Canada, and credit never expires. Rates to other countries are on the rates page — see also what a call abroad costs.
What do I need to start?
An email address or a Google account, a microphone and a current browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave or Safari. Open call online, type the number with its country code, and the dialer shows the rate before you press Call. The person you call answers on an ordinary phone and needs no app.

Can I call without registering?
No. Calls are paid from a prepaid balance, and a balance needs an account. Signing up takes an email and password or a Google sign-in — no card and no phone number of your own.
Is there a trial minute?
No. There is no trial credit today; you pay only for the minutes you use.
Can I call 911 or 112?
No. Emergency numbers cannot be dialled from TwinPhone. Use a mobile or a landline for emergencies.
Does unused credit expire?
No. Credit never expires, so a top-up you do not use stays on the account.
