Is TwinPhone available in my country?

By Updated

Short answer

In most countries: you sign up with an email and call from a browser or the app. Sign-up is closed from Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria, which are under comprehensive embargo, and from 36 more countries and territories with a high fraud risk, listed below. Calls reach 145+ countries; numbers are offered only in the US and Canada.

Where is sign-up closed?

New accounts cannot be created when you connect from:

  • Countries under comprehensive embargo: Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. Adding credit from these countries is blocked too.
  • Countries and territories with a high fraud risk: British Indian Ocean Territory, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kiribati, Liberia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Norfolk Island, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, São Tomé & Príncipe, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Sudan, Timor-Leste, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Wallis & Futuna.

The check uses the country your internet connection comes from, not your nationality or where your card was issued. The second list exists because of international revenue-share fraud — paid traffic pumped to high-cost numbers — that came from accounts opened in those countries.

Where do the numbers work?

Everywhere with an internet connection. Numbers are US and Canadian only, but they ring in your browser or the iPhone app in any country where you use TwinPhone. Calls are priced by the destination you dial, not by where you are: $0.02 a minute to the US and Canada.

Which countries can I call?

Landlines and mobiles in 145+ countries. The rates page lists the destinations and their per-minute rates, and the dialer shows the rate for the exact number before the call connects.

More questions

Can I use my existing account while travelling?

Yes. Signing in is not blocked by country — only creating a new account is. Adding credit is refused while you connect from an embargoed country.

Can I pay with a card from my country?

Payments are processed by Stripe in US dollars, and your bank converts them. Cards from most countries work; your bank decides whether to approve an international payment.

Can I get a local number for my country?

No. Numbers are offered only in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
