Verizon sells three add-ons. Global Calling ($5 a month) includes Mexico and Canada and discounts calls elsewhere from $0.05 a minute. Global Choice ($10) gives a monthly allowance — up to 300 minutes — to one country you pick. Global Calling Plus ($15, the column above) makes landlines in 60+ countries and mobiles in 30+ unlimited. Verizon's two Global Choice tables disagreed on a few rates on 27 September 2026; the table above does not use them. Prepaid prices were not verified.

When Verizon is the cheaper way to call abroad

  • Canada and Mexico. Verizon says: “Remember, all Unlimited and other select domestic plans include calling to Mexico & Canada.” If your plan includes them, nobody's per-minute rate — ours included — beats that.
  • Heavy calling to an included country. The Global Calling Plus add-on costs $15 a month. At TwinPhone's $0.08/min to an Indian mobile, $15 buys about 187 minutes; if you call an included country for longer than that every month, the add-on is cheaper.
  • Mobiles the add-on prices below us. With the add-on, Verizon charges less per minute than TwinPhone to mobiles in India, the Philippines, Nigeria, the Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
  • Google Voice and Google Fi. Their per-minute rates to most of these countries are a few cents, lower than ours; Google Voice needs a US number and Fi is a phone plan.

When a browser call costs less

  • Occasional calls without an add-on. Ten minutes to an Indian mobile cost $24.90 at Verizon's rate without an add-on, and $0.80 at TwinPhone's.
  • Mobiles the add-on still charges for. Even with the add-on, Verizon bills mobiles in Colombia, Pakistan and Japan at more per minute than TwinPhone does.
  • Calling from outside the US. Verizon's international calling plans cover calls placed from the US. From abroad, a browser call is billed at the same per-minute rate as at home.
  • Calling from a laptop. TwinPhone runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with no SIM and no app — useful when your phone plan isn't the one you want to pay with.

How to call abroad without an add-on, from your browser

  1. Open the dial box, pick the country and type the number — the per-minute rate shows before anything else.
  2. Create a free account with an email or Google; no card, no SIM and no US number needed.
  3. Add credit from $10 (no subscription, the credit does not expire) and press Call. Calls are billed per minute, rounded up, with no connection fee.

Rates for every country are on the rates page; for the most-called countries there is a guide with dialing formats and a comparison: India, Mexico, the Philippines, the UK.

Dudas habituales sobre llamadas internacionales.

How much does Verizon charge for international calls?

Without an international plan, Verizon's standard pay-per-minute rate is $1.99–$2.49 to most countries, $0.69 to Mexico and $0.49 to Canada (read on Verizon's pages on 27 September 2026). Add-ons cost $5, $10 or $15 a month.

Does Verizon include calls to Mexico and Canada?

All Verizon Unlimited plans and some other domestic plans include calls to Mexico and Canada, according to Verizon. The $5 Global Calling add-on adds them to plans that don't.

Which Verizon international plan should I pick?

Global Choice ($10) if you call one country a lot — you get up to 300 minutes a month to it. Global Calling Plus ($15) if you call landlines in several countries. Global Calling ($5) if you mostly call Mexico and Canada and want lower rates elsewhere. For a few calls a month, paying per minute outside Verizon is usually cheaper.

How can I call internationally from a Verizon phone without a plan?

Place the call from an app or a browser instead of the phone line. TwinPhone works in the browser with prepaid credit from $10 — $0.08/min to an Indian mobile — and shows the rate before connecting. Google Voice is cheaper per minute if you have a US number.

Does Global Calling Plus cover mobiles in India?

No. On the date checked, Global Calling Plus listed India at $0.05 a minute to mobiles and landlines rather than unlimited; mobiles are unlimited in about 30 countries only. The table shows the rate for each of the 15 countries.
