Is a TwinPhone number a temporary number for verification?
Short answer
No. A TwinPhone number is a dedicated US or Canadian number rented by the month, not a shared one that many people read. It stays yours while the rental is paid, and you can cancel anytime. It receives SMS codes from US and Canadian senders; Telegram and many banks refuse virtual numbers, so check the service first.
How is it different from a number many people share?
Only you see the texts that reach it. They land in the Messages inbox of your account, are stored encrypted and are deleted after 7 days; nobody else can read them or rent the number while you hold it. That matters because a service that sends a code to a number treats whoever reads the code as the owner of the account.
Why keep the number after the code arrives?
Many services ask for a new code later — on a new phone, for a password reset or after a security check. A released number goes back to the carrier's pool and can be issued to someone else, who would then receive those codes. Keep the number for as long as an account depends on it; it renews at the same price every month until you cancel.
Which codes arrive?
Codes from US and Canadian senders, including the short codes companies use. In the 90 days to 27 September 2026, 41 TwinPhone numbers received 55 WhatsApp codes and 10 received 25 Google codes. Telegram refuses virtual numbers and sends no code, and many banks and payment apps do the same; codes sent from phones outside the US and Canada often do not arrive. See why a code may not arrive.
