Why doesn't my microphone work in the browser?

Автор: Обновлено

Short answer

Usually the browser has blocked microphone access for twin-phone.com, another app is using the microphone, or the wrong input is selected. Click the lock icon next to the address, set Microphone to Allow, reload the page, and close video-call apps that may be holding the device.

How do I allow the microphone?

  • Chrome, Edge, Brave: click the lock icon left of the address → Site settings → Microphone → Allow, then reload.
  • Firefox: click the microphone icon in the address bar → remove the block, then reload.
  • Safari: Safari → Settings for twin-phone.com → Microphone → Allow.

If TwinPhone shows "Microphone access is required to make calls", the browser has refused access and one of these steps fixes it.

What if it is allowed but still silent?

Check the operating system too: on macOS, System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone must include your browser; on Windows, Settings → Privacy → Microphone. Close Zoom, Teams or other apps that may hold the device, and pick the right input in the browser's microphone menu.

The other person can't hear me well — why?

A weak or crowded connection is the usual cause. Move closer to the router, switch off a VPN that blocks real-time audio, or use a wired connection for long calls.

Am I charged if the microphone fails?

Only answered calls are billed. If a call connected but you could not be heard, write to support with the time of the call.

Does it work on a work laptop?

Usually yes, unless the company's policy blocks microphone access in the browser.
